I'm in too deep! The last 50 or so pages were hard for me. Seeing Julian sad made me sad. Poor thing. Unrequited love is almost unbearable. Knowing you can't have someone you've longed for, cared for, for so long. I felt for Julian. He tugged at my heart strings since the beginning, I cannot lie. But this time around he secured a place for himself in my heart and mind.

The ending damn near killed me. Damn you, Jenny. You're not even that special. But more on that later. Smith, you have managed to make me cry, again. Why do you insist on breaking my heart? Why must you make me go through this a second time when I barely managed to get over the blow to the gut you delivered at the end of The Power? Plot-wise, this was exactly like the previous 2 books.

Julian wants Jenny so he makes her play a game. If she wins she's free, if she loses, she's his forever. I liked the previous 2 books, but I felt stronger feelings towards this book because something actually happens at the end!

IL GIOCO PROIBITO LULTIMA MOSSA EBOOK

We finally get a conclusion! A fucking sad one, but at least we get one. Jenny Thorton is nothing special. A Shadow Man just happened to fall in love with her when she was five ew, btw. Other than that, there's nothing remarkable about her. I only wish Julian knew that. The sad part is that i feel Jenny toyed with Julian's emotions.

She pulled him along and she knows it. She didn't HAVE to make out with him. I have no doubt that Julian would've given her the clues whether she kissed him or not. Girl, why?! OMG, my poor, evil Julian! She never could. This book isn't perfect, it's far from it, but I truly do like it. The story was intriguing and entertaining.

IL GIOCO PROIBITO LULTIMA MOSSA EBOOK

The ending was sad, yet satisfying. Smith is a master at writing teenage angst in a way that makes you identify with the characters at least a little. I would recommend this if you like L. Smith, Labyrinth, or Jumanji. You were so different from anything in my world, the others just watched, but I wanted you.

Not to kill or use up the way— the way they do with humans sometimes here. I needed you. All I could think about was you.

I wouldn't let anyone else hurt you, ever. I knew I had to have you, no matter what happened. I'm sorry. He looked very young, and very tired, and heavy with some knowledge she didn't share.

I love Ms. I don't care what you do with toilet paper. And I don't know all the answers. I don't even know the stupid questions. But not everything is evil, like you say. There are good people. Jul 19, C.

Gorgeousness in the form of Romantic horror. Jul 12, Summer rated it really liked it Shelves: This one ended up being a little bit of a guilty pleasure I really enjoyed all those things. That being said, the plot has some convenient holes and some useless characters, and honestly Jenny is a Mary-Sue. But overall, it was a fun read. Sep 02, Taryn rated it did not like it Shelves: Isn't the point of reading a story to see how the characters survive some life changing ordeal and come out stronger for it?

As in, things change? Someone obviously didn't mention that to L. Smith, because Jenny and her gang of misfits end up in the same place that they started, except now Julian isn't watching Jenny from the shadows.

Jenny and her friends go into the Shadow World to save Tom and Zach. Along the way, they find Summer, who I totally knew wasn't dead. The two guys that stole the Isn't the point of reading a story to see how the characters survive some life changing ordeal and come out stronger for it? The two guys that stole the Game at the end of The Hunter are, however. Jenny frees their souls from being tormented by the other Shadow Men, as well as the soul of her grandfather, because she's such a kind, special girl.

Of course, she wins the Game. Isn't that sort of obvious? Jenny and her friends are still as flat and boring as paper. Supposedly they stand up to their insecurities or something, and are supposed to be stronger for it. All it accomplishes is that her friends act the same as they did before, but now a bit more proudly, I guess.

Audrey is proud to be in love with Michael, who is short and pudgy, not tall and model-esque. Except, you know, she was already dating and in love with him.

Dee is strong and fierce, except she was before, minus the drama-lapse she was given in this book so that her gaining it back would make sense.

Michael and Summer, yeah, they're still the same as they were before they played the first Game, now they're just a bit more smug about it. I knew Jenny wasn't going to dump Tom for Julian. She's completely deluded herself into thinking that her and Tom are so in looove that they're soulmates. Of course, that means that Julian can't stick around, because he has more of a lure, since he doesn't have the personality of a houseplant. Well, now he can't pine after Jenny any more.

In addition, now Zach seems to have to hots for Summer, so he's not going to secretly perv on his cousin anymore. Sorry, half-cousin. I don't even think that's really a thing. Basically, this book ends with everyone in Jenny's band paired up, destined to get married before they're twenty and have babies.

AKA, they ended up back where they started before The Hunter. I would have settled for Jenny dumping Tom because she realizes that he has the makings of being a control freak and will keep her in the kitchen, but nope, they're totally going to be together forever.

Seriously, what was the point of this series again? Feb 25, Meg rated it it was amazing Shelves: I was left a little disappointed with the first two books after I had built this series up in my head, but this third book made it all worthwhile. I began reading the series because I had heard that there were parallels between Julian and Jareth from Labyrinth, and I love Labyrinth, although obsess would be a more accurate verb, so I had to read the books.

I wasn't disappointed on that score, which is why I still gave the first two books 4 stars.

There was a lot to remind me of Labyrinth, which I was left a little disappointed with the first two books after I had built this series up in my head, but this third book made it all worthwhile. There was a lot to remind me of Labyrinth, which made my inner fangirl happy. I didn't care in the first two books - I was detached from the story, fully aware that I was reading a plot driven book geared to a middle school audience.

Not the case here.

Although still very simple and geared to the same audience what can you really expect in pages , there was more character development and some really touching moments.

I never quite connected with the secondary characters, and although I saw a little more in Jenny in this third book, it was Julian that really pulls you in. You never quite see what it is he sees in Jenny, though - I wish we had more glimpses of what he saw in her, although she did start to come into her own in this book, so I give her props for that.

It's worth reading the series to read this final installment and to get to know Julian. It was kind of sad and my heart hurts a bit after reading it, but a window was left open.

I don't imagine she'll pick up with this ever again, although it would be great rewritten for an older audience with room for more character development, but there's always your imagination. This is for the second time that I wanted evil to live more. A game for which you would have to sworn an oath And the evil??? He wants Jenny!!! He was evi This is for the second time that I wanted evil to live more. He was evil. Cruel, capricious and dangerous as cobra.

A princess of darkness. Completely evil- and completely in love with her. When he was in his darkest mood, I imagined him like this: But in reality our beloved villain was as seductive as mortal sin and as haughty as the devil with intense blue eyes and white hair like snow.

How Jenny was supposed to avoid his charms??? Do you know that?

Jan 11, Bex rated it really liked it Recommended to Bex by: Now she and her friends, Audrey, Dee and Michael, have come to her Grandfather's house to search for a way into Julian's Realm. But when they find themselves in Joyland Park, the amusement park Jenny loved as a kid; it seems their plan hasn't worked. However, like everything else in the Shadow World, nothing is as it seems and soon the four are involved in a treasure hunt for three Rating: However, like everything else in the Shadow World, nothing is as it seems and soon the four are involved in a treasure hunt for three Gold coins that will allow them to rescue Tom and Zach.

Having read all three, I have to say it's also by far the best of the series. The action is non-stop, and the way Julian's character changes is beautifully written. I loved him from the start but especially so in The Kill. Apart from the Shadow Man himself, the other characters are all very realistic, different and likeable.

The author did a fantastic job with all three books in the trilogy. There is a perfect mix of fantasy, action and romance in this series and sometimes the books are genuinely scary.

The ending was so sad, but so perfect too. Julian is, and always will be, one of my favourite literary characters. Knowing you can't have someone you've longed for, cared for, for so long.
